Visa for Oman: Types, Eligibility Criteria & Application Process

The Omani government is very strict about the rules and regulations that need to be followed when it comes to travelling to Oman. If you wish to travel to Oman, then you will have to apply for an Oman visa before you can travel there. The type of visa that you need depends on your nationality and the purpose of your travel.

The types of visas available in Oman include:

Ordinary tourist visa – This type of visa is valid for 30 days and allows you to travel to the Sultanate for leisure or entertainment purposes only. However, this type of visa does not allow you to work or study there.

Business visa – This type of visa is valid for one month and allows you to work or study in Oman for business purposes only.

Repatriation/family visit visa – This type of visa is valid for three months and allows those who have been granted refugee status by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) are allowed entry into Oman so long as they have been approved by the Ministry of Interior Affairs (MoI).

The process to acquire an Oman Visa is fairly straightforward and requires you to have a valid passport and an onward ticket. However, if you are coming from a country that does not require visas for Oman, then this might not apply to you.

The other way is to go to the nearest Oman embassy or consulate in your country, depending on which one you are applying for. You will be required to go through a security check and fill out some forms. You will also need to provide some information about yourself, such as your passport information and any documents that are required by your country of origin or destination. Once this is done, you can proceed with the actual application process.
