Complete Guide to Malaysia Visa Application

Foreign nationals who want to travel to Malaysia and are residents of nations that require visas are issued a Malaysia visa.

With a Malaysian visa, you can enter just Malaysia, but you must go through border formalities first. Therefore, obtaining a visa does not ensure that you will be permitted to stay in Malaysia for any reason. The immigration officer at the entry point decides whether or not you are permitted to enter Malaysia.

Each foreign visitor will receive a Pass from the immigration officer at the entry point. An endorsement in your passport known as a "Malaysia Pass" details the duration of your stay in the country. Even though you don't require a visa to enter Malaysia before your trip, you still need to pass immigration at the entrance point and receive a Pass in your passport.

As a result, getting a Malaysia visa is just a prerequisite for entering; you must first get permission from the immigration officer.

Should I Obtain a Visa Before Travelling to Malaysia?

If you are from a country that is not exempt from this requirement, you must apply for a visa in order to go to Malaysia.

For brief periods of time, Malaysian entry does not require a visa for nationals of a number of countries. If, however, your journey will last longer than the allotted time without a visa, you must apply for a visa.

For instance, if you only want to stay in Malaysia for up to 90 days and are a citizen of the United States or one of the European Union member states, you do not need to obtain a visa. However, if you plan to stay in Malaysia for more than 90 days, you must apply for a Malaysia visa or the relevant Pass for your intended purpose of travel (work, study, family reunion, etc.)

When should I apply for a visa to Malaysia?

You have up to one month before your intended departure date to apply for a Malaysian visa.

How can I apply for a visa to Malaysia?

Foreign nationals can apply for a Malaysia visa using one of two methods:

· manually, or

· online.

However, only a small number of nations (listed below) can apply for a Malaysian visa online. Most nationals who are required to obtain visas must do so at a Malaysian Representative Office Abroad or by way of a recognised visa application service.
